The Electric Kool-Aid
Acid Test
By Tom Wolfe
Book is in EXCELLENT
condition in GOOD DJ
- 1968 Book Club Edition. Farrar, Straus and Giroux
- Tom Wolfe writes about Ken Kesey, a promising young writer, during
Kesey's experimentations with LSD from about 1961 to 1964. Kesey
leaves his home in Oregon for Stanford University. There he encounters
LSD . Throughout the course of the story more and more people join
into their small group, and one can see parallels between the forming
of their group and the forming of a new religion. As the group
gains an almost psychic connection, they decide to try to bring their
message to the masses, and set up the first of many "Acid Tests".
These tests were giant parties with blacklights, dayglow paint,
colorful costumes, and massive amounts of LSD. The
book goes on to cover early performances by The Grateful Dead, and
Kesey's exile to Mexico.

God Bless You,
Mr. Rosewater
by
Kurt Vonnegut
First
Edition Thus
Book is in Excellent condition. No DJ
* The plot focuses on Eliot Rosewater, the primary
trustee of the philanthropic Rosewater Foundation whom one of the
family lawyers, Norman Mushari, is attempting to have declared insane
to enable a more distant relative, Fred Rosewater, an insurance
salesman from Rhode Island, to gain control. The novel is told mostly
through a collection of short stories dealing with Eliot's interactions
with the citizens of Rosewater County, usually with the last sentence
serving as a punch line. The antagonist's tale - Mushari's - is told in
a similar short essay fashion. These stories usually reveal different
hypocrisies of mankind in a very dark and humorous fashion.
* Delacourt Press / Seymour Lawrence, 1965, First
Edition Thus, 203 pages
* Very clean inside and out. Slight roll to spine is
only real flaw. Very minor shelfwear to cover.

Atlas Shrugged
by
Ayn Rand
Stated
Second Printing of 1st edition
Book is in Very Good condition for age. No DJ
* One of the classics of modern fiction
* From Wikipedia: The plot expresses Ayn Rand's
beliefs in regards to multiple facets of her philosophy. The collapse
of society when the "men of the mind" go on strike in response to their
exploitation presents Ayn Rand's belief in the necessity to human life
of reason, independent-mindedness, individualism, individual rights,
and the market economy. In the world of Atlas Shrugged, society
stagnates when independent productive achievers began to be socially
demonized and even punished for their accomplishments, even though
society had been far more healthy and prosperous by allowing,
encouraging and rewarding self-reliance and individual achievement.
Independence and personal happiness flourished to the extent that
people were free, and achievement was rewarded to the extent that
individual ownership of private property was strictly respected.
* 1168 pages, published by Random House
* 1957, Stated Second Printing of First Edition
* Pages are all remarkably white, bright and clean
* Front hinge is loose and slightly cracking, but
fully attached. Pages
all tightly bound.
